After lunch two more races will be held back to back first the Begal then Liberation trophy. We only run two pursuit races during the year, it may seem a bit complicated at first but once you have started it is just great fun, please ask us at the club to explain the start sequence if you are unsure, also you may like to download this information sheet. Did you know….
That the St. Catherine’s Liberation Day regatta has been held every year since the club started 62 years ago. The 3 races held on Liberation day are The Vega, The Beagle and The Liberation Day Trophy all with historic significance to the Liberation of the Channel Islands. First race of the day is the Vega named after the Red Cross Ship SS Vega that made several trips to Jersey with Red Cross parcels, then on 9th May 1945 HMS Beagle arrived at St. Helier harbour and later that day the island was liberated, hence the order of our races!
