Winter Training

Once again we are running winter race training sessions for those keen to hone their skills & keep active during the winter months. This year the Laser, Optimist & Topper training will all take place on the same day commencing Sunday 6th November at 09:30.

Martin & Jamie will lead the Laser coaching & we are looking for volunteers to help with race coaching the Optimist & Topper fleets plus we need plenty of volunteers to man safety boats & shore cover. As the saying goes “many hands make light work” so the more volunteers we have the more we can spread the load so if you can spare some time on a Sunday morning please send an email to Martin spells706@gmail.com, James.mullholand@careyolsen.com & David cadins@me.com  with the help you can provide so we can get a rota set up.

For your diary the training dates are as follows:

Sunday 6th November
Sunday 20th November
Sunday 4th December
Sunday 18th December

Sunday 8th January
Sunday 22nd January
Sunday 5th February
Sunday 19th February
Sunday 5th March
Sunday 19th March
The format will be a briefing at 09:30 in the clubhouse then straight out on the water for some exercises followed by a couple of races counting towards a winter ladder for each class. To speed up the launching process all sailors must be changed & boats ready to be taken down slip prior to the briefing. We aim to finish up at about 13:00.The cost is £5.00 per session to cover fuel & light refreshments. To help with the organisation we would like to members to sign up now for the winter training & then let us know one week in advance of the training date if you can’t make it. For the Laser fleet please advise Martin Speller & Jamie Mulholland  email addresses:- spells706@gmail.com / james.mulholland@careyolsen.com respectively & for Topper / Optimist Fleet please advise David Cadin email address:-  cadins@me.com.Finally if there are members who do not sail a Laser, Optimist or Topper but want to take part in race training please contact Martin or David.winter training
