With one more day before the cut off for entries, the heat is on for next weekend’s Logicalis Gorey regatta.

Get your entries in before end of day Tuesday 3rd July to ensure you have tickets for the prizegiving meal and entry into the regatta all in the entry fee.

If you are not planning to sail yourself please volunteer to help on water or land by going to the dutyman site and signing up. All the sailors rely on safety cover and with bouncy castle for sale out them we cannot send sailors out!  We need 10 on water and one beach safey each day…Thank you if have done so already, but if you are having trouble, contact Justin … justindavidhorton@gmail.com

The sail around to Gorey will be at 6pm from St Caths, with boat trailer towers required to act as shore support. Please advise Justin if you have a tow bar available that eve, and for the return journey on Sunday.

Last year’s prize winners please return your trophies to St Helier Yacht club now in SHINING condition ready for the weekend.

The Gala and Bel Val series for fast and slow boats will start this Sunday (17th June.)

This is contrary to the programmed Perkins Day Boat and Double handed cups which will now be on Sunday 1st July.

With the season bouncy castle for sale now in full swing its a great time to brush off your craft if it hasn’t seen much action yet. The club is buzzing with activity so join in with the fun.

Commodore’s Regatta

This coming Sunday (10th June) marks the yearly Commodore’s Regatta, with 3 races back to back and a lunch hosted by the house committee, this event should be a fun, sociable event both on and off the water.
You can reserve your place for lunch and on the water by visiting the webcollect club booking site where you will be helping the house and racing management without obligation.

The Liberation regatta takes place this Wednesday 9th May and includes lunch at the club. The Vega pursuit race will start at 10:00. All sailors and family are welcome, BYO beer & wine if you wish.

After lunch, two more races will be held back to back; first the Beagle then the Liberation trophy.

Dear Sailors and friends,

This Sunday is the start of the Farley Series (Fast) and Verner Series (slower handicap) 1 & 2.

Start is at a slightly more leisurely 10 o’clock, with the coached fleet meeting at the same time.

With all our sailing we very much appreciate parents being on scene when juniors are out on the water, in order to receive them if they need shore support.

Volunteers are always welcome on the slipway to help with launch and recovery as well as on water support if you can help on the boats. See the officer of the day to let them know if your young sailor is going out or if you are able to assist in any way.

The ANRP/Amy 7/8 will start at 0900hrs this Sunday at the club, so please be arriving at 0800 to ensure that you are not late for the early start.

There will be no waiting for late boats!

All Inflatable Water Slide boats will need to be off the water around 1200 hrs so time is tight for the 2 scheduled races.

The weather looks better for the morning so enjoy the sail!

Next weekend all of our sailing will be based from our sister club The Royal Channel Islands Yacht Club.

With the fine venue of St Aubin’ s Bay and the promise of a good looking forecast our sailors bouncy castle for sale are eagerly awaiting great racing amongst 9 classes of different craft.

Fast Dinghies class 8 start soon after 11am on Saturday with class 9 (slower dinghies) starting after that.

Entries should be in by Tuesday 1pm .

In accordance with the RYA and as standard good practice, we encourage all persons to be aware of their safeguarding responsibilities around the club and on water at our own events and away….

St Catherine’s Sailing Club is committed to safeguarding, from physical, sexual or emotional harm, neglect or bullying, children taking part in its activities. We Inflatable Water Slide recognise that the safety, welfare and needs of the child are paramount and that all children, irrespective of age, disability, race, religion or belief, sex, sexual or gender identity or social status, have a right to protection from discrimination and abuse.

For the purposes of this policy anyone under the age of 18 should be considered as a child. All members of the Club should be aware of the policy.

Staff and Volunteers

All Club staff and volunteers whose role brings them into regular contact with young people will be asked to provide references. The Club Welfare Officer and those regularly instructing, coaching or supervising young people will also be asked to apply for an Enhanced Criminal Records Disclosure, with Barred List check if appropriate.

Good Practice

All members of the Club should follow the good practice guidelines attached (see RYA Sample Document 4) and agree to abide by the Club Code of Conduct (see RYA Sample Document 5) and the RYA Racing Charter contained in the Racing Rules of Sailing. Those working or volunteering with young people should be aware of the guidance on recognising abuse (see RYA Appendix A).

Adults are requested not to enter the showers and changing rooms at times when children are changing before or after junior/youth training or racing. If this is unavoidable it is advised that they are accompanied by another adult.

The Club will seek written consent from parents/carers before taking photos or video of a child at an event or training session or publishing such images. Parents and spectators should be prepared to identify themselves if requested and state their purpose for photography/filming. If the Club publishes images of children, no identifying information other than names will be included. Any concerns about inappropriate or intrusive photography or the inappropriate use of images should be reported to the Club Welfare Officer.

Concerns

Anyone who is concerned about a young member’s or participant’s welfare, either outside the sport or within the Club, should inform the Club Welfare Officer immediately, in strict confidence. The Club Welfare Officer will follow the attached procedures (see RYA Flowcharts 1 and 2).

Any member of the Club failing to comply with the Safeguarding policy or any relevant Codes of Conduct may be subject to disciplinary action under Club Rules.
