St. Catherine's Sailing Club is an RYA Training Centre for power boating, however, not for sailing. We have designed our own sailing courses. Here's an overview of them:

This course covers all aspects of sailing. The aim of this course is for you to 'start sailing'. You will be taught how to rig, sail a reach-to-reach course, how to control boat speed and clothing choices depending on the weather.
This course takes the skills you learn on our Start Sailing course and builds on them. You will be taught how to gybe, sail upwind and downwind and the concept of the 'No-Go-Zone' will be introduced.
You will be taught how to launch, come alongside a guard boat and how to hike!
You will be taught the main concepts and rules of racing. You will then have the chance to put these into action by joining in with one of our club races.

SCSC Level 1 | Start Sailing
This course covers all aspects of sailing. The aim of this course is for you to 'start sailing'. You will be taught how to rig, sail a reach-to-reach course, how to control boat speed and clothing choices depending on the weather. The minimum age to learn to sail at St. Catherine's is 8 years old.
SCSC Level 2 | Sailing Skills
This course takes the skills you learn on our Start Sailing course and builds on them. You will be taught how to gybe, sail upwind and downwind and the concept of the 'No-Go-Zone' will be introduced.
SCSC Level 3 | Complete Sailing
You will be taught how to launch, come alongside a guard boat and how to hike. This is a junior course.
SCSC Level 3 & 4 | Start Racing
You will be taught the main concepts and rules of racing. You will then have the chance to put these into action by joining in with one of our club races. This course is for members who have already attempted to complete Level 3 or have completed Level 3.
SCSC Summer Courses
St. Catherine's Sailing club holds a variety of popular courses courses in the summer holidays, which can cater for any level of sailor. These courses run from the Monday to the Thursday. Should one day be cancelled due to inclement weather we will replace that day and run the course on the Friday. We recommend that you book early for these courses!
SCSC Adult Evening Course
This course is for adults who wish to start sailing.
We are able to offer private lessons to groups or on a one-to-one basis, please contact us for pricing and further details.
