Jubilee Regatta was cancelled today due to F6/7 SE winds.
A fantastic days sailing with 24 boats turning out on a wet and very windy morning. The Commodore and his team set 3 great courses, with plenty capsizes and drama! The Cup was scooped by Jeff Speller and the best placed junior was won by David Raimbault. Both the Commodores cup and plate will be presented at the Annual dinner. The commodores prize, dinner for two at the Moorings, was won by Meriel Ellison.
Club member Neil Singleton, who will soon be circumnavigating the globe aboard Singapore Clipper in the gruelling. Clipper 11-12 Round-the World Yacht Race, has been awarded the 2011 Jersey Clipper Bursary, worth £600.
Also, thanks to an anonymous donation, the trustees have been able to make an additional award of £150 to 13-year-old sailors Lily Carter and Mary Perkins, currently representing Jersey in the Jeux des Isles in Sicily.
The recent quiz night at St Helier Yacht Club was well attended and enjoyed by all.
A donation will be made to the RNLI from the evening’s proceeds.
An amazing piece of film of our Regatta from 1954, how times have changed!
