The Tony Cavey Centre And Tony Cavey

The Tony Cavey Training Centre was founded in memory of Tony Cavey who was a former Deputy Harbourmaster in Jersey.  The Tony Cavey Trust provided for the training of RYA powerboat instructors and also funding towards the purchase of the St Catherine’s Sailing Club RIB, named TC, which was launched in 2011 by Tony’s wife Trish and his grandson, Daniel.

The Principal of the Tony Cavey Training Centre is Will Carnegie who has had a long relationship with the RYA as both an RYA Yachtmaster Ocean Instructor and professional skipper.  In 2011 The Tony Cavey Training Centre was founded to promote powerboat training.  This was followed by first aid and in 2014 the sailing school became an RYA Sailing Centre.

The Senior Dinghy Sailing Instructor for the 2017 season is Katie Bennet Jones, who started learning to sail aged 8 with the learn to sail programme and then later qualified as an RYA Dinghy Sailing Instructor, and more recently an RYA Senior Instructor.  Katie is ably assisted by a team of RYA qualified Dinghy Sailing Instructors who all learnt to sail at St Catherine’s Sailing Club.

We currently have 9 powerboat instructors.

Our First Aid Instructor is Rhys Perkins who many of you will know as a local GP.  Rhys is an experienced sailor in dinghies and bigger boats.
